A study plan

  1. Learn where the tables live in the 2021 Michigan Plumbing Code: fixture units, trap sizes, vent sizing, and water supply sizing.
  2. Practice drainage fixture unit (DFU) totals and pipe sizing until they’re quick.
  3. Know trap and vent rules cold: trap seals, trap arm distances, and vent connections.
  4. Review backflow devices and where each one is required.
  5. Do timed mocks. 125 questions in 180 minutes leaves under 90 seconds per question.
